Colt Firearms Colt was introducing a World War I Commemorative 45 Pistol and wanted to forgo the usual mahogany box with velvet presentation. A WWI khaki box with a Lexan "window" allowed a wall hanging or desk presentation. The background displayed a WWI Victory ribbon and illustrations of the WWI battle scene it commemorated. I designed unique hardware, unlockable, that allowed the pistol to be displayed without obstruction. Also innovative was the "sliding" cover, that was lockable and moved back for pistol removal and cleaning.
